What is a Pre School?

Prepare your child for schooling or prepare your child for primary school. Schooling of a child starts from age of 6 years. Age of pre-school or play school is from 3 to 6 years. Those years are very important in child’s life, because lots of developments, change takes place in those years. There are certain developmental areas in child’s life:

Physical Development

Which means progressive development of various parts of the body and their capacity to function. It includes motor development, which is again divided into two parts:

  1. Gross Motor development
  2. Finer Motor development.
  • Gross Motor Development

    This includes development of long muscles such as hands and legs muscles.

    Activities to promote Gross Motor Development are : Running, Walking, Jumping, Climbing, Throwing, Catching.

  • Finer Motor Development

    This includes development of smaller muscles such as Fingers. This finer motor development is very important in developing writing ability of a child.

    Activities to promote Finer Motor Development are : Scribbling, Drawing, Painting, Pasting, Cutting Etc.





Cognitive Development

It is also one of the most important aspect in child’s development. This development refers to grow and refinement of various aspects of child’s intellectual capacity. Cognition is the process by which child gains knowledge of our world. It covers process of thinking, perceiving, remembering and understanding. The process involves perception, Murmuring, problem solving and reasoning capacity.


Activities to promote Cognitive Development are : Various types of Puzzles, Maize’s, Memory Games, Reasoning Cards Etc.

Social Development

Social Development means the acquisition of the ability to behave in accordance with social expectations. When the child starts going to Cresh or Pre-school, which will be his first contact with the outside world. It includes, to develop pleasant relationship with peers and adults. In this development child learns to share or participates in general activities, to share the play materials, to take care of their material, toys and peers.


Activities to promote Social Development are : To promote child to participate in General games. Wait for his turn. Sharing, Caring, Handling of toys, Personal things. Caring for schools properties Etc.

Emotional Development

Emotions means to express feelings. Children’s emotions are intense. They appear frequently, and emotions are transitory also. This development includes lots of feelings such as Anger, Jealousy, Fear, Negativism, Dependary Etc.


To promote the emotional development it is necessary to help the child to control his feelings or to react in the positive way and to make him independent.

Activities to promote Emotional Development are:

  • To express emotions, through games such as Hitting Bottles, Throwing etc.
  • To express their feelings, through Stories, Dramas.
By making them independent through activities as pack the bag, close the Tiffin, tie shoe laces etc.

Language Development

This also is one of the important developmental aspect in child’s development. Language development helps child to express his feelings. To communicate with others etc. Mainly child learns language through imitation.


Activities to promote Language Development are:
Story Telling, Singing, Picture talk, Object Talk, Story Making, Giving of following instructions, Listening various types of Sounds etc. All these developmental areas are provided in pre-school activities mentioned above, to promote all the developmental areas. So pre-schooling or play school is important in Child’s Life.
